Who we are

Nine Lives with Kali is operated by Ajay Jagota as a sole trader. Ajay is responsible for how your personal information is used. For privacy questions or requests, email Nine Lives.

What we collect and why

Our email signup asks for your email address and agreement to receive journey updates. We use subscription, consent, confirmation and email-delivery records to confirm your request, send the journey emails you agree to receive and respect unsubscribe requests. We rely on your consent for journey emails. An unconfirmed request is not permission to send journey updates.

When you contact us, we receive your email address, any name you provide and your message so we can answer you. We use technical and security information to protect the website and signup form from abuse. Our legitimate interests are responding to enquiries, keeping the service secure and keeping evidence of consent and opt-outs. We handle data-rights requests to meet our legal obligations.

Who handles your information

Brevo hosts our email signup form and handles confirmation, email delivery, contact and suppression records. Cloudflare hosts and protects the website. Cloudflare Turnstile on the signup form processes technical information, including IP address and browser signals, to distinguish people from bots. Google Workspace handles messages sent to our contact email.

Brevo states that its databases are hosted in the EU. Cloudflare and Google use international infrastructure, so processing can take place outside the UK. Their published data-processing terms describe transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses. Read Brevo’s storage information, Cloudflare’s data safeguards and Google’s data safeguards.

Email statistics and browser information

Brevo records email delivery, opens and link clicks, with timestamps and some IP information. Opens and clicks are associated with individual contacts; anonymous transactional tracking is not enabled. We use email statistics to understand which stories interest readers and how our emails perform. Opens may also be generated by email privacy or security tools and do not always mean someone read an email.

The main story page loads fonts from Google; this privacy page loads its fonts locally. Cloudflare explains its Turnstile processing. Our earlier protected signup tests used browser session storage and a separate Cloudflare consent record; those test records remain private.

How long information is kept

Brevo is configured to retain our transactional email logs for one month for all senders and not to store email previews. Those settings do not set the retention period for contact attributes, consent or suppression records.

We keep subscription information to provide the emails you have requested, and consent and opt-out evidence to record permission and prevent unwanted emails. We review retained records, including unconfirmed requests and correspondence, periodically against these purposes. Unconfirmed requests are not used for journey marketing. Unsubscribing stops journey emails; it does not automatically erase contact records. You can ask us to delete information; a minimal opt-out record may still be needed to respect your choice.

Your choices and rights

Use the unsubscribe link in a journey email, or email us to unsubscribe. You can also request access to, correction or deletion of your information, restriction of its use, or a portable copy where the right applies, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out lawfully before withdrawal.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
